PAT testing and certification will reassure you that you are considering the safety of your employees and will also provide evidence in the event of a Health and Safety Inspection.

What is PAT Testing?

PAT testing stands for portable appliance testing. A portable appliance is an item of electrical equipment, which is connected to the power supply with a flex and plug.

Why should my business have PAT testing done?

Although it is not a legal requirement to PAT test items, there are a number of reasons why your business should have their appliances PAT tested on a regular basis including:

The Electricity at Work Regulations 1989 require that any electrical equipment that has the potential to cause injury is maintained in a safe condition

To assist with the safety of your staff when using the company’s portable appliances, e.g. kettles, microwaves, computers, fridges, telephones and extension leads

To comply with the Health & Safety at Work Act 1974;  the employer is responsible in so far as is reasonably practicable in making sure that all relevant equipment is safe to use and without risk to health

To minimise the risk of fire and injury caused by electrical appliances

A test certificate will be provided as evidence that your portable appliances have had a combined inspection and electrical safety test which can be stored with your health and safety records
